- An unnamed boat ( Philippines) sinks in rough waters off the province of Bataan with only 2 crew rescued by a passing vessel. Eight fishermen are missing.[4]

- Bright Century ( Japan) collides with Sea Success ( Liberia) 23 nautical miles (43 km; 26 mi) east of the Shangdong Peninsula () and sinks. All 23 crew members are rescued.[12]

An unnamed longboat ( Democratic Republic of the Congo) capsizes on a river in Maniema killing at least 20 people, with 60 more missing.[13]

- Yeoman Bontrup ( Bahamas) suffers an onboard fire that spread to her engine room whilst at Glensanda Quarry, Loch Linnhe, Scotland. The crew abandoned ship. The fire spread to her accommodation, severely damaging the ship.[15]

- An unnamed ferry ( Indonesia) sinks off Flores. At least eleven are killed and 32 are reported missing.[21]

- MV Hong Wei ( Panama) sinks off the southeast coast of China. Ten members of the 24-person Chinese crew are missing. The cargo ship was carrying 40,000 tons of nickel ore.[30]

- FV Phu Tan ( Vietnam) capsizes and sinks 110 nautical miles (200 km; 130 mi) west of Sanya, China; 27 fishermen are reported missing.[41]

- Sea Bright ( Bolivia): The cargo ship was driven ashore at Antalya, Turkey in a storm and was wrecked.[42]

- Eren Turgut ( Turkey) caught fire in the English Channel 18 miles (29 km; 16 nmi) off Dover. Three crew were airlifted to hospital in Margate,[44] where one of them later died.[45] The fire was extinguished but left the ship without propulsion and on emergency lighting only.[44]

- Cargo ship Kang Bong ( North Korea) sinks 120 nautical miles (220 km; 140 mi) east of Lianyungang in strong gales. Two crew are killed and 15 are missing.[48]
